Caught in drug test
Both of them claimed that they were innocent. "We had just been invited to the party and happened to be there,” Rahul said at the press conference. He also added, "I am sure my results won’t be positive. If tests are positive, I’ll quit cricket.” South African pacer Parnell said, "We weren't aware of any drugs there or any rave party. It is unfortunate we were there. But at the end of the day, it was just a simple case of being at a wrong place at the wrong time." But now we came to know that they tested positive for drugs. Mumbai police confirmed that they will be arrested. Their blood test report shows that both of them are positive for Cannabis and MDMA. Bollywood actor Apoorva Agnihotri, fashion designer Rocky S. and Bishan SinghBedi’s son AngadBediare also found positive in the test.
Rahul is now with the national team in Sri Lanka. For this incident his possibility of being in the first eleven is quite impossible. Saturday he may be brought back to India. The Indian team management has confirmed that they are always keeping contact with the board. Rahul’s medical test report spreads unrest to the cricket craze at Friday night. Board President Srinivas said, "I don’t know why everyone is in a mood to execute Rahul Sharma without even going into the details. The BCCI will first procure each and every bit of relevant information and then study them before deciding on the course of action.”
25-year-old Rahul played his One-day debut against West Indies in December 2011. He took 5 wickets in 3 ODIs. Anil Kumble amended his bowling action in Bangalore National Cricket Academy. He also said that Rahul was the most promising leg-spinner of the country. During IPL V there are many controversies about the night parties. It was said that prohibited drug had been supplied in those parties. Indian media exposed those when Rahul and others were arrested but neither Indian Cricket Board nor IPL Governing Council made any comments about that incident.
